Bio
A native of San Diego, 26-year-old Colin Armstrong grew up in a musical family. “My dad is a great singer, not a pro, but great nonetheless.” Colin’s love of music evolved into learning how to play the bagpipes when he was 12 years old. By the time Colin was 15, he was touring Europe and competing internationally. Today, he is a world-class bagpiper. During his early college days, he played pipes with KORN and got a glimpse of the rock lifestyle meeting and hanging out with Billy Idol, Robbie Krieger of the Doors and Terry Reid who was originally slated to be the lead singer for Led Zeppelin. Colin instantly knew that music was his calling. But as you can imagine, playing the pipes didn’t lend itself to being a rock star or jamming with his buddies to Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Clapton. So Colin taught himself to play the guitar and sing. His desire to play songs with “hooks” that also had resonance led him to pursue his skills as a singer/songwriter. Colin’s first break came when he won the “BE A STAR” contest on STAR 98.7. The victory landed him a development deal with Hollywood Records. Colin continued to write, record and hone his skills, gathering the best of the best material for his debut CD, “Lost and Anonymous.” Colin’s song “Lonely Fall” won Best Male Vocal and Best Song at the LA Music Awards and “In Your Eyes” was also chosen for the finals of the 2007 American Idol Songwriter contest. In addition to finishing his debut CD, Colin has also collaborated on songs with Suzie McNeil of RockStar INXS fame and A–list writer/producers Marti Frederiksen and Mikal Reid. Colin’s dynamic vocals and honest lyrics have been compared to John Mayer, Tom Petty and Peter Gabriel. Colin is currently touring the US to support ”Lost and Anonymous.”
